Hair Recovery Guide

Welcome to Your Hair Recovery Journey

You did not just buy a hair product.

You have started a hair recovery system designed to support the scalp, follicles, and hair strands in the correct order.

Most people fail with hair products because they apply everything at once, expect instant growth, or focus only on oiling the hair while ignoring the scalp environment. But hair recovery works more like farming.

Before a farmer plants seeds, they first repair the soil.

Your scalp is the soil.
Your follicles are the roots.
Your hair strands are the crop.

If the scalp is inflamed, itchy, clogged, dry, over-oiled, or weak, growth becomes difficult. Shifaa Organics works through a phased approach: first we reset the scalp, then we support the follicles, then we protect the hair you are growing.

This guide will show you exactly how to use your products depending on your current phase.

THE SHIFAA 3-PHASE HAIR RECOVERY SYSTEM

Phase 1: Scalp Reset & Barrier Repair

Calm the scalp before demanding growth

This is the foundation phase.

If your scalp is itchy, flaky, painful, oily, dry, inflamed, sensitive, or has thinning areas, your first goal is not aggressive growth stimulation. Your first goal is to restore the scalp environment.

A weak scalp cannot hold strong growth.

Phase 1 focuses on:

  • Reducing scalp irritation
  • Supporting a cleaner scalp environment
  • Removing buildup from excess oils, sweat, dust, and products
  • Calming itchiness and discomfort
  • Preparing the follicles for better response
  • Creating the right foundation for growth products to work

Who needs Phase 1?

You are likely in Phase 1 if you have:

  • Itchy scalp
  • Dandruff or flakes
  • Tender scalp
  • Oily scalp with buildup
  • Dry scalp that feels tight
  • Bald spots with irritation
  • Sisterlocks/locs with itching around thinning areas
  • Hairline thinning with discomfort
  • Slow growth despite using oils
  • Product buildup from frequent oiling
  • Breakage near the roots
  • Scalp that feels “hot”, sensitive, or inflamed

The truth about this phase

Many people want to jump straight to hair growth oil. But if the scalp is not stable, stimulation can make irritation worse.

Think of it like applying fertilizer to damaged soil. The fertilizer may be good, but the soil is not ready.

Phase 1 teaches the scalp to breathe again.

Phase 1 Recommended Products

1. Scalp Reset Shampoo

Role: Cleanse • Reset • Prepare

Use this to cleanse the scalp without stripping it harshly. It helps remove buildup and allows the scalp to feel cleaner, lighter, and more balanced.

How to use:

Wet the scalp and hair properly. Apply the shampoo directly to the scalp, not only the hair strands. Massage gently using fingertips for 2–3 minutes. Do not scratch with nails. Rinse well.

Use 1–2 times per week, depending on buildup, sweating, oiling, and scalp condition.

For locs or sisterlocks, focus mainly on the scalp. Rinse thoroughly to avoid residue.

2. Moisturizing & Hydrating Mist

Role: Hydrate • Soothe • Refresh

This is not an oil. It is a hydration support product.

Many people confuse oiling with moisturizing. Oil can seal, soften, and protect, but it does not truly hydrate the scalp or hair on its own. Hair needs water-based hydration first, then light sealing where necessary.

How to use:

Spray lightly onto the scalp and hair, especially dry areas. Use in the morning or whenever the scalp feels tight, dry, or uncomfortable.

Use daily or 3–5 times per week.

For locs, mist lightly and allow it to absorb. Avoid soaking the hair excessively.

3. Aloe Hair Recovery & Nourishing Gel

Role: Calm • Nourish • Support scalp recovery

This is useful when the scalp needs gentle nourishment, soothing, and support. Aloe-based products are ideal for scalp comfort because they help provide a cooling, hydrating, lightweight feel.

How to use:

Apply a small amount directly to the scalp in affected areas. Massage gently until absorbed. Do not overapply.

Use 3–4 times per week during Phase 1.

Best used after misting or on a clean scalp.

Phase 1 Routine

Simple Weekly Routine

Wash Day

  1. Cleanse with Scalp Reset Shampoo
  2. Rinse thoroughly
  3. Apply Hydrating Mist
  4. Apply Aloe Hair Recovery Gel to scalp areas that feel dry, itchy, or weak

Non-Wash Days

Morning or evening:

  1. Spray Hydrating Mist lightly
  2. Apply Aloe Hair Recovery Gel to thinning, dry, or irritated areas
  3. Avoid heavy oiling if the scalp is itchy or congested

Phase 1 What to Expect

Week 1–2

You may notice the scalp feels cleaner, lighter, and less suffocated. Itching may reduce gradually, especially if buildup was one of the causes.

Some shedding can still happen. This does not always mean the products are failing. Weak hairs that were already detached may still fall out before the scalp stabilizes.

Week 3–4

Scalp comfort should improve. Hair may feel easier to manage. The scalp may become less reactive. This is the stage where the scalp begins to feel ready for stronger follicle support.

Signs Phase 1 is working

  • Less itching
  • Less scalp heaviness
  • Less buildup
  • Scalp feels calmer after washing
  • Less urge to scratch
  • Products absorb better
  • Hair feels less dry at the roots
  • Reduced flaking or tightness
  • Less inflammation around thinning areas

When to stay longer in Phase 1

Stay in Phase 1 for more than 4 weeks if you still have:

  • Severe itching
  • Painful scalp
  • Active dandruff
  • Open sores
  • Heavy buildup
  • Persistent inflammation
  • Burning sensation
  • Very sensitive scalp

Do not rush into growth stimulation if the scalp is still unstable.

PHASE 2: FOLLICULAR REACTIVATION & ANCHORING

Support the roots after the scalp has calmed

Phase 2 is where we begin supporting the follicle more actively.

This phase is not about forcing instant growth. It is about improving the conditions around the follicle so the hair can anchor better, grow with better support, and become more responsive over time.

If Phase 1 is soil repair, Phase 2 is planting and feeding the roots.

What Phase 2 focuses on

Phase 2 supports:

  • Follicle stimulation
  • Scalp circulation through massage
  • Hairline and thinning-area care
  • Root anchoring
  • Reduced weakness around thinning areas
  • Better growth response over time
  • Support for dormant or weak follicles that are still alive
  • Improved consistency in the growth routine

Who needs Phase 2?

You are likely in Phase 2 if you have:

  • Receding hairline
  • Weak edges
  • Thinning crown
  • Bald patches that are not shiny-scarred
  • Stunted growth
  • Hair that grows but breaks early
  • Loc thinning at the roots
  • Post-braiding or traction thinning
  • Slow regrowth after shedding
  • Hairline weakness from tight hairstyles
  • Follicles that need reactivation and support

Phase 2 Recommended Products

1. Root Activation Oil

Role: Stimulate • Feed • Anchor

This is the follicle-support product. It is best used once the scalp is clean, calm, and not overloaded with buildup.

Oil should not be poured all over the scalp daily. More oil does not mean more growth. In fact, over-oiling can clog the scalp, attract dirt, worsen itching, and slow progress.

The correct use is targeted application.

How to use:

Apply a small amount directly to thinning areas, hairline, crown, or weak spots. Massage gently for 3–5 minutes using fingertips.

Use 3 times per week.

Do not scratch. Do not apply heavily. Do not apply on a dirty or irritated scalp.

Best used at night or a few hours before washing, depending on your scalp tolerance.

2. Aloe Hair Recovery & Nourishing Gel

Role: Hydrate • Support • Calm

In Phase 2, the aloe gel supports scalp comfort and hydration while the oil supports stimulation. These two should not compete. Use them strategically.

How to use:

Apply on non-oil days or before oil application if the scalp feels dry.

Use 3–4 times per week.

3. Moisturizing & Hydrating Mist

Role: Hydrate before sealing

Use the mist to prevent dryness. Especially for natural hair, locs, and dry scalps, hydration is essential.

How to use:

Spray lightly before applying gel or oil.

Use daily or as needed.

Phase 2 Routine

Weekly Routine

Wash Day

  1. Cleanse scalp with Scalp Reset Shampoo
  2. Rinse thoroughly
  3. Apply Hydrating Mist
  4. Apply Aloe Hair Recovery Gel lightly
  5. Avoid heavy oil immediately if the scalp feels sensitive after washing

Oil Treatment Days — 3 times per week

  1. Spray Hydrating Mist lightly
  2. Apply a small amount of Root Activation Oil to thinning areas
  3. Massage for 3–5 minutes
  4. Leave on overnight or for several hours

Non-Oil Days

  1. Use Hydrating Mist
  2. Apply Aloe Hair Recovery Gel where needed
  3. Keep scalp light and clean

Phase 2 Massage Method

Massage is not just a relaxing step. It helps improve product distribution and supports scalp stimulation.

Use the pads of your fingers. Move the scalp gently in small circular motions. Focus on thinning areas but do not rub aggressively.

Do not:

  • Scratch the scalp
  • Use nails
  • Pull the hairline
  • Over-massage weak locs
  • Apply oil until the scalp is shiny and wet
  • Sleep with a heavily saturated scalp every night

Growth requires consistency, not aggression.

Phase 2 What to Expect

Weeks 5–8

The scalp should feel more stable. You may notice reduced breakage around the roots. Some people begin seeing tiny hairs, especially around the hairline, but this depends on the condition of the follicles.

Weeks 8–12

This is where more visible changes may start. Hair may feel stronger at the roots. Weak areas may begin responding. The scalp may hold styles better without feeling irritated.

Signs Phase 2 is working

  • Less breakage near the scalp
  • Less itching after oil use
  • Thinning areas feel less tender
  • Tiny hairs may appear
  • Hairline feels less fragile
  • Roots feel stronger
  • Hair feels less dry between wash days
  • Scalp absorbs products better
  • Less shedding from weak handling

Important truth about regrowth

Not every bald area responds the same way.

If follicles are still alive, consistent care can support visible improvement. If the area is scarred, shiny, or completely inactive for many years, results may be slower or limited.

This is why Shifaa Organics focuses on honest recovery, not cosmetic illusion.

PHASE 3: STRUCTURAL DENSITY PRESERVATION

Protect the hair you are growing

Phase 3 is the retention phase.

Many people think their hair is not growing, but the truth is that the hair is growing and breaking at the same rate. This makes it look like there is no progress.

Phase 3 protects the crop.

The goal is to preserve length, reduce breakage, maintain moisture, and protect the hair shaft from daily damage.

What Phase 3 focuses on

Phase 3 supports:

  • Length retention
  • Reduced breakage
  • Hair strand strength
  • Moisture balance
  • Easier detangling
  • Less dryness
  • Less frizz
  • Better elasticity
  • Protection from styling stress
  • Maintenance after growth begins

Who needs Phase 3?

You are likely in Phase 3 if you have:

  • Dry hair
  • Brittle strands
  • Breakage at the ends
  • Hair that grows but does not retain length
  • Loc dryness
  • Natural hair shrinkage and snapping
  • Hair that tangles easily
  • Weak strands after braids, heat, or chemical use
  • Dull hair
  • Hair that needs maintenance after recovery

Phase 3 Recommended Products

1. Moisturizing & Hydrating Mist

Role: Hydrate • Refresh • Restore softness

This is the daily hydration support. It helps keep the hair flexible and less prone to snapping.

How to use:

Spray lightly on hair and scalp. Focus on dry areas, ends, and loc length.

Use daily or as needed.

2. Hair Conditioner & Detangler

Role: Soften • Detangle • Reduce mechanical breakage

A lot of breakage happens during combing, detangling, washing, and styling. This product helps improve manageability.

How to use:

Apply after washing. Work through the hair gently. Detangle with fingers or a wide-tooth comb. Rinse if it is a wash-off conditioner.

Use once weekly or on wash days.

3. Daily Growth Oil / Hair Food / Maintenance Oil

Role: Seal • Protect • Maintain

This is not the same as Root Activation Oil.

Maintenance oil is for softening, sealing, shine, and protecting the strands. It helps preserve the hair that is already growing.

How to use:

Apply a small amount to hair length or dry ends after misting. Use lightly.

Use 2–4 times per week, depending on dryness.

Avoid applying too much directly to the scalp unless instructed.

Phase 3 Routine

Weekly Routine

Wash Day

  1. Wash scalp and hair
  2. Apply conditioner/detangler
  3. Rinse if required
  4. Spray Hydrating Mist
  5. Seal lightly with maintenance oil or hair food

Daily or Every Other Day

  1. Spray Hydrating Mist
  2. Apply a small amount of oil to dry areas or ends
  3. Style gently

For locs

  1. Mist lightly
  2. Apply a small amount of oil to palms
  3. Smooth over locs
  4. Avoid heavy buildup at the roots

Phase 3 What to Expect

First 2–4 weeks

Hair may feel softer, easier to manage, and less dry. Detangling may become easier.

After 6–8 weeks

You may notice less breakage during combing, washing, or styling. Hair may appear fuller because you are retaining more length.

Long-term

Consistent maintenance helps preserve density and reduces the cycle of growth followed by breakage.

Signs Phase 3 is working

  • Less breakage
  • Less dryness
  • Hair feels softer
  • Ends feel less brittle
  • Locs feel lighter and more hydrated
  • Less snapping during styling
  • Hair retains length better
  • Styles last longer
  • Hair looks healthier without being greasy

HOW TO KNOW WHICH PHASE YOU ARE IN

Start with Phase 1 if:

Your scalp is itchy, irritated, flaky, painful, congested, or has buildup.

Start with Phase 2 if:

Your scalp is calm, but you have thinning, weak edges, bald spots, slow growth, or hairline recession.

Start with Phase 3 if:

Your main issue is dryness, breakage, dullness, tangling, or poor length retention.

Use all 3 phases if:

You have scalp issues, thinning, and breakage at the same time.

In that case, follow the order:

Reset the scalp → Activate the roots → Preserve the strands

Do not rush the process. Hair recovery is not a one-product event. It is a biological sequence.

COMMON MISTAKES THAT SLOW HAIR RECOVERY

Mistake 1: Oiling every day

Daily oiling can clog the scalp, attract dirt, worsen itchiness, and block proper absorption.

Oil is useful when used correctly. It is not a substitute for hydration or scalp cleansing.

Mistake 2: Expecting growth without scalp repair

If the scalp is inflamed, growth products may not perform well. Always fix the scalp environment first.

Mistake 3: Using too much product

More product does not mean faster results. The scalp needs consistency, not overload.

Use small amounts and apply regularly.

Mistake 4: Scratching the scalp

Itching does not mean you should scratch. Scratching causes micro-injuries, worsens inflammation, and can weaken the roots.

Use mist, aloe gel, and proper cleansing instead.

Mistake 5: Tight hairstyles

Braids, loc tension, ponytails, wigs, and tight styling can worsen hairline thinning.

During recovery, reduce tension as much as possible.

Mistake 6: Stopping too early

Hair grows slowly. The scalp may improve before visible hair growth appears.

Give the system at least 8–12 weeks of consistent use before judging results.

EXPECTATION TIMELINE

Week 1–2: Scalp Awareness

You begin noticing how your scalp responds. It may feel cleaner, lighter, or calmer.

Week 3–4: Scalp Stability

Itching, buildup, and discomfort may begin reducing. The scalp becomes more ready for follicle support.

Week 5–8: Root Support

Thinning areas may begin feeling less weak. Breakage around the roots may reduce. Tiny hairs may appear in responsive areas.

Week 8–12: Visible Recovery Window

This is where many customers begin noticing clearer changes in density, hairline response, reduced shedding, or better retention.

3–6 Months: Deeper Recovery

Hair recovery becomes more visible when the routine is consistent and the scalp is protected from tension, harsh products, and buildup.

SPECIAL GUIDANCE BY HAIR CONCERN

If you have itchy scalp

Start with Phase 1. Do not apply heavy oil daily. Cleanse properly, hydrate with mist, and soothe with aloe gel.

If you have receding hairline

Start with Phase 1 if there is itching or buildup. Then move to Phase 2 with Root Activation Oil 3 times weekly. Avoid tight hairstyles completely during recovery.

If you have locs or sisterlocks

Focus on scalp health first. Avoid over-oiling the roots. Use mist lightly. Apply oil only to thinning areas. Keep retightening gentle and avoid tension on weak spots.

If your hair breaks easily

You need Phase 3. Hydrate, condition, detangle gently, and seal lightly. Growth is useless if the strands keep breaking.

If you have bald spots

Check the scalp condition. If the area is itchy or inflamed, start with Phase 1. If calm, begin Phase 2. If the spot is shiny, scarred, or long-term inactive, results may require more time and may be limited.

If your hair is not growing

Ask yourself: is it not growing, or is it growing and breaking?

If the scalp is unhealthy, use Phase 1.
If the roots are weak, use Phase 2.
If the strands are breaking, use Phase 3.
